Cellared Beers Now on Display

2011 Madison Craft Beer Week

As Madison finds itself in the middle of a week-long beer frenzy, Riley’s is adding fuel to the fire that is Madison Craft Beer Week. For the past couple of years, Riley’s has been carefully selecting and setting aside a few select age-worth beers and placing them into our temperature-controlled cellar.

We’ve only yet done one release of some of these beers during the 2010 Great Lakes of the Midwest, and got a good response back from our customers. Now that we have a good supply of beers that are ready to be released, we are bringing the contents of the cellar to our storefront area.

You’ll find the small cooler containing bottles from the cellar right by our singles cooler. Each bottle is marked with the date of bottling, a six digit code referring to the year and month (YYYYMM). We are limiting the amount of beers that will go into this cooler, but you should find a steady stream of beers coming in from now on.

Currently in the cooler, you will find 2008 bottlings of Goose Island Bourbon County Stout, Bell’s Expedition Stout, New Glarus Alt (this stuff is fantastic!), Southern Tier Cuvee one, Stone Smoked Porter, and Stone 08-08-08 Vertical Epic (both Stone beers are no longer available in Wisconsin). Of course, there is much more to come as time goes on, and you’ll probably see some extra awesome beers come August.

Lastly, we hope you’ll join us this evening for a beer tasting event with Upland Brewing Co. who will be pouring samples of many of their beers. Hope you all have an enjoyable week during Madison Craft Beer Week!
